Andy Ammons, President of Ammons Development Group
Andy Ammons, President of Ammons Development Group, is the second generation to carry on the ideals that have established the company’s solid reputation for excellence throughout the years. Andy's experience in planning, designing and developing communities began in the early 70’s with his own part in the development of his father’s Greystone Village. After graduating from the School of Engineering at North Carolina State University in 1982, Andy worked as a project engineer for several Florida-based construction companies. He then rejoined the Ammons family of companies, gradually taking over the leadership of the family's first coastal resort communities in Wilmington and Nags Head. Andy attributes his success to his ability to use all the resources at hand, including growing up as the son of Jud Ammons.
Andy began Heritage as a 750 acre community growing it to over 2000+ acres including a golf course, two swimming pool complexes, tennis courts, multiple community playground areas, approximately 100 acres of open space and greenway trails, a fishing pond with observation deck, school sites, commercial, retail and business centers, and residential homes. Heritage now boasts multiple awards, locally, statewide and nationally for its master land plan, landscape design, amenities packages, sales program, development company, street scape, architectural details, and creativity in marketing to name a few.
Andy is quick to tell you he doesn’t fit the large corporate mold and has kept Ammons Development Group small amidst the growth. The development has remained solid and is nationally recognized as an industry leader in the new homes housing market using his business model. He believes in honesty and integrity, and being directly accessible and accountable in all aspects of the development process while keeping Ammons Development Group small hands on company. According to Andy, “this ensures that when the job is done, it is done right.”
Andy and his wife Jan live in Raleigh with their children, Jessie, Max and Drew. They take great pride in their church, school and community and are actively involved on various boards and committees. They also have served in leadership roles on various civic, recreational and historical groups and continue to give back to their community.
