Heritage… a word that evokes images of an era, of life less complicated. Lively gatherings of friends and family around the dinner table, a work ethic of integrity and pride in craftsmanship, neighbors and shopkeepers who say hello and know your name – all giving a sense of belonging.
Add to that an infusion of state-of-the-art, 21st century technology in home design and construction, along with an abundance of thoroughly modern conveniences and amenities that match today’s lifestyles. Finally, meet a developer with the vision and dedication to bring all this to life in the present – and for the future – and you have the Heritage community. Meet Andy Ammons, that developer.
Andy’s father, Jud Ammons, bought this tract of Wake Forest land in 1986 from Emmitt Marshall and his son-in-law, Phil Stroud, who ran a thriving dairy farm on the property. Jud and Andy began planting what would be over a million new trees – yes, a million -- to restore cleared areas and add natural beauty to the vistas in all directions, for all to enjoy. Today, these now-mature trees shade back yards and line the streets that wind through twenty-one individual neighborhoods, each as unique as the folks who have made this place home – and who add their own colorful chapters to the unfolding story that is Heritage.
